Back then, running a website was about passion and creativity, not "being an influencer" or having a "personal brand". Many websites weren't even run by businesses or competent web designers, and the randomness of it all was a large part of the appeal. In fact, this is what made surfing the web such a big deal. You could spend hours reading someone's favorite cookie recipes, or long incoherent rants about how time as we know it isn't real, or even end up visiting the homepage of an organization about how cool it would be if a specific actor ate more salsa. There was no end to the creative ideas people put online. And then the walled gardens came. Now it's rare for people to look beyond the first page of Google results, and even those only link to the same small handful of websites. Today's average netzien doesn't know how great things used to be, as the only places they go online are the big corporate sites. Websites from the ID is one man's attempt rebel against this trend and bring back some of idea of the old internet. Here you'll find many small websites, all given that classic GeoCities stylistic touch. Some of these websites are actually functional or useful in some way, but most are just examples of old web nostalgia meant to be amusing or strange. Even the ads on this domain are fake - clicking on them will just take you to another part of this website. So go on, start exploring. It's a wonderfully weird web out there. |
The Superego reflects your idealized self and your place in society. As such, it can be said to be your conscience, providing positive or negative reinforcement in an attempt to drive you towards your best behavior. By contrast, the Id is your instinctual and animalistic side. It only understands things in terms of "I want" or "I need", and is driven by instant gratification. The Ego is your conscious mind, which has the difficult task of negotiating between the Id and Superego. This project was named after the Id because of how little planning or thought is given to the subsites within it. There's no "plan for the future", no "guidance", no "oversight". It's just creation for the sake of making something new. Also it's a nod to Forbidden Planet, which is neat. |
